Subject Knowledge Enhancement
Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses are ideal if you are applying for teacher training and either your degree is not subject specific or you want to refresh your existing knowledge. You will be able to apply for an SKE course if:

SKE is set as a condition of your ITT offer

Your ITT subject focus and SKE match

Your degree in your ITT subject focus was not awarded in the last five years - this is a new requirement

You have a degree 2:2 or above. Third and Ordinary degree can access course funding but not a bursary.
SKE courses are available in Biology, Chemistry, Computing, English, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages (French, German or Spanish) and Physics.
We offer online SKE courses through the TES institute.
As a postgraduate teacher trainee, you could access a tax-free SKE bursary of £175 per week to support you throughout the SKE course. .
