Business Studies
Why train to teach Business Studies with Cheshire East SCITT?
Business Studies is a dynamic, fast-paced, and vital subject that connects classroom learning directly to the real world. By training to teach Business Studies, you will empower the next generation to understand how modern markets operate, how entrepreneurs launch game-changing ideas, and how sustainable business practices shape our global economy.
Our programme ensures you develop deep pedagogical knowledge alongside practical classroom experience, giving you the confidence to inspire young minds to think critically, strategically, and ethically about the world of business.
What You Will Learn & Teach
As a Business Studies trainee, you will be fully supported to teach across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5:
-
Teaching GCSE Business Studies: You will learn how to break down core business concepts—such as marketing, operations, finance, and human resources—into engaging, accessible lessons for Key Stage 4 pupils. We show you how to build pupils' analytical skills, guide them through real-world case studies, and prepare them thoroughly for GCSE exam structures and quantitative business calculations.
-
Delivering A-Level & Post-16 Qualifications: Gain direct experience working with A-Level and vocational business students (such as BTEC/CTEC). You will be trained in teaching high-level strategic decision-making, global economic influences, and business ethics, helping advanced learners construct mature, evaluative arguments.
Preparing Pupils for the World of Work
Business Studies is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between education and employment. During your training year with Cheshire East SCITT, you will learn how to weave practical life skills and career awareness directly into your curriculum:
-
Enterprise & Innovation: Teach pupils how to develop business plans, pitch ideas, and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.
-
Financial Literacy & Employability: Help students understand workplace structures, management styles, personal finance, and corporate responsibility.
-
Real-World Contexts: Use current corporate news, local business examples, and market trends to ensure your lessons reflect the modern economic landscape.
Subject days can be tailored to specific needs of our trainees and the requirements of our placement schools.
