Art & Design
"The artist sees what others only catch a glimpse of" Leonardo Da Vinci
Art and Design makes a significant contribution to society through creative thinking, imagination and innovation. The Art and Design Curriculum encourages self expression, builds confidence and provides an opportunity to celebrate individual identity; pupils can develop critical thinking and the ability to interpret the world around them.
On this SCITT course the Subject Specialist Lead will work with you throughout to develop your subject knowledge. The course will prepare you to teach Art & Design across the 11 - 18 age range and equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach an exciting and diverse subject. The programme combines theoretical learning with hands-on practice, covering key areas such as textiles, photography, 3D modelling, printmaking, and drawing techniques.
The programme also provides the opportunity to use and combine centre based training on learning theories and pedagogy with subject specific content; the programme can focus on classroom management and how to manage art resources, how to provide challenge, deliberate practice, retrieval practice, marking coursework, exam boards and how to run wider curriculum/enrichment opportunities.
The Subject Days can be personalised and adapted to personal strengths and subject knowledge needs based on your placement schools.
