What are you doing now?

I’m currently a trainee on the Cheshire East SCITT (school-centred initial teacher

training) programme and have just secured a qualified teaching position for

secondary maths.

What’s your background?

After my degree (LLB Law with Criminology) I went into retail management.

Why did you decide to go into teaching?

I just felt that retail management wasn’t for me and that I wanted to pursue a

career in teaching.

Why did you decide to join the Cheshire East SCITT programme?

I attended an open evening and loved the atmosphere, the way the information was provided and the response to questions was fantastic.  The course offered more time in a school than others and this felt more appropriate to me.

How are you finding the course?

It’s a great course with a fantastic support system.  Mentors are great and the course feels like it is personalised.

What are you looking forward to?

I enjoy seeing the students making progress and also building relationships with the class.  I’m looking forward to having my own class to work with regularly and seeing them progress through a school.
