CASE STUDY: JENNY
When did you start your initial teacher training?
I started my training last September so should finish in July. I’m currently on my
second placement and it’s interesting seeing what’s similar and different in
What’s your background?
After completing my degree, in Maths and Computer Science, I spent 25 years as
a software designer, developer and support analyst.
Why did you decide to go into teaching?
I was made redundant when my role was moved to Eastern Europe and I was
looking for a new challenge.
Why did you decide to join the Cheshire East SCITT programme?
I liked the proximity of the training centre, and appreciated not having to go to University too often.
How are you finding the course?
I was apprehensive about whether I could do it. With support I have grown in confidence and feel that by the end of this year I will be an accomplished teacher. Every lesson is different. The challenge is great but the rewards are great too. I feel like I am making a difference.
What are you looking forward to?
Having my own classroom and my own classes which I can really get to know and help them maximise their potential.
